ART AND FREEDOM

Osho invites and encourages you to create your own life and suggests that the one who creates be free.

Freedom in creative expression is like a vast sky without borders, where the imagination can fly spontaneously and experience the power to break the chains of expectations and conventions.

In the creative act, there is freedom to explore, experiment, fail and be reborn. There are no fixed rules, structures or defined boundaries. Every brushstroke, every note, every dance step, every word is an opportunity to let everything that needs to be expressed emerge.

Freedom in creative expression offers the opportunity to express oneself without rigid restrictions, stimulating creativity and encouraging the discovery of new perspectives.

So, Art can emerge from a deep inner reflection, observation of the surrounding world, or a fusion of both.

Art allows us to transgress the limits of standardized thought, question social norms, and give voice to the most intimate passions.

The joy and fulfilment of a creative act are found in this space of freedom.

Freedom is an internal quality experienced in art and everyday life. Every time we manage to be ourselves, we create something new.

The Dance of the Soul: Meera Hashimoto
In the context of exploring art as creativity, the figure of Meera Hashimoto, a well-known painter and art therapist, emerges. Her life has been dedicated to combining art with therapy and meditation, offering a unique approach to creative expression.
Born in Japan, Meera has taken her art around the world, helping to establish art communities in different parts of the globe. Studying in Europe and becoming a disciple of Osho in 1974, Meera enriched her artistic and spiritual background.

Meera demonstrated how art can become a dance of the soul, an inner journey that combines painting, therapy and meditation. Her vision aligns with Osho’s, transforming the creative act into an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth.
Meera left us in 2017, but her precious teaching continues to live on through those who shared her journey: Kantu Nishigori, her assistant, and Svagito, her life and journey partner, who carry forward her spiritual project with dedication.
Participating in creative activities can be therapeutic, both because it helps to release emotional tensions and because it helps to go deeper into understanding oneself, to let go of old cumbersome ideas, and to find new ways to face reality. Creative expression also contributes to enrichment by meeting different individual perspectives and sharing unique narratives and cultures different from one’s own.

ART AND AUTHENTICITY

The creative act can become a tool to begin exploring our inner world.

Every brushstroke and line drawn is a step towards a deeper essence through the canvas or any other medium you choose.

In brainstorming, without inhibitions and self-censorship, the most intimate thoughts, emotions, and visions take shape, layer after layer, until what is true is revealed. You explore the chaos, what chaos it is. You explore the sadness; you let it emerge. Without judgement, without identification, observe the flow of thoughts and emotions until we lose the masks, the false, dead layers and allow the actual face to appear.

The creative process thus becomes a journey to encounter one’s truth and embrace one’s uniqueness towards the most authentic expression of one’s inner being.

Art is a ritual of discovery, a bridge between the unconscious and the outside world, to find the courage to be vulnerable and show the world who we are. In this act of sharing, discover the universal connection between people.

I believed I was uncreative. What else can be creativity besides dancing and painting and how to find out what my creativity is?
