This course offers an understanding of what trauma is, how it affects our lives in different ways, and what can support us in healing from it. We will pay particular attention to the difference between personal and collective trauma and explore how different traumatic experiences may require different approaches.
We will work both somatically and systemically, restoring balance on physical, emotional, and mental levels. By working with the body as well as with our natural need to bond and relate, we can regain a sense of safety and empowerment and restore our capacity for creativity and connection.
Trauma can result from an experience that overwhelms our normal coping mechanisms. It affects the body and mind, and particularly the nervous system, in many different ways. It can manifest through physical symptoms, emotional reactions, and changes in our perception and behaviour.
Healing requires a gradual and step-by-step integration of the emotional and physiological charge held within the traumatic response. As this process unfolds, the nervous system can regain its capacity for self regulation, allowing us to respond to life with greater freedom and choice.
In this course, we will learn to:
- recognise trauma states and understand their underlying causes
• support the body in recovering from physiological symptoms
• discover and use resources that support healing
• work with difficult emotions and physiological activation in a helpful way
• re-establish healthy boundaries and a sense of empowerment
• understand systemic and transgenerational aspects of trauma
• explore the importance of love, meditation, and creativity in the healing process.
The course is suitable for both professionals and people with no previous experience in trauma work. We will work in a resource-oriented way, using specific exercises and learning through demonstrations and participation in individual sessions.
Trauma healing can lead to a deep relaxation, a more subtle awareness of the needs of our body and mind, and a strengthening of our ability to respond to life rather than being driven by unconscious reactions.
We will also explore how facing major life challenges or traumatic experiences can become an opportunity for a shift in consciousness, helping us discover a new orientation and direction in life.
