Clay: Art, Nature and Pottery is a ceramic and meditation workshop designed and inspired by traditional antique techniques.
Sumito’s Art Therapy is based on meditation and is focused on putting you in touch with your essence. It helps you to discover a state of presence. It guides you beyond the mind. It pushes you to create spontaneously and in absolute freedom. Whatever you create becomes the mirror of your present moment. The creative act comes from an intuition, and intuition comes from a space of inner silence.
The intent of each Clay workshops is to raise an awareness through a creative act in our daily life.
What changes each month is the focus, is the modality, the working tools, and the active meditation techniques, but not the intent. Being well grounded in the body allows our creativity to express itself at its best.
In this workshop, you can deepen being in harmony with nature and that harmony is created by listening to the silence of nature. Nature speaks through you, through your hands, and what you accomplish.
We celebrate spring, with the rebirth of the landscape, and explosion of blooms in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We celebrate the environment surrounding us. We look for inspiration in the forest, outdoors, among the shapes, lines and colors that create unique compositions, evoking in each of us an individual magic.
When nature and creativity meet, all our senses light up, giving rise to an extraordinary sensation of fullness, presence, and wholeness. Nature, in all its manifestations, is an incredible work of art of which we are all a part of.
In addition to clay, we use pieces of nature: bark, stones, leaves, earth, sand, everything and anything we find, that attracts us in the woods.
This workshop is an encounter with creativity, intended as a spontaneous and relaxed space in which you act naturally and are not guided by the mind.
There are moments of sharing during which you have the opportunity to share any reflections and or feelings you are experiencing during the workshop. Just as in nature, everything that is imperfect like certain curved trees with twisted branches, is fascinating and perfect. In the same way, what you create is perfect because it is a mirror of your soul. The goal is the journey.
“Whatsoever you do, if you do it joyfully, if you do it lovingly, if your act of doing it is not purely economical, then it is creative. If you have something growing out of it within you, if it gives you growth, it is spiritual, it is creative, it is divine. You become more divine as you become more creative.” OSHO, A Sudden Clash of Thunder
